Special Rules for the Metrodome Inline Marathon
Posted March 11, 2008

Special rules will be used to rank pro skaters at the Metrodome Inline Marathon.

The results of the solo marathon and team time trial will be blended; and in keeping with the Metrodome rules, team scores will be based on the time of the fourth skater.

As a result, skaters who compete in both the solo marathon and team time trial will only earn points in one race, the one in which they scored the most points.

Example:

  • Team Swift wins the time trial. Its time (the time of its fourth skater) is 1:12.
  • Pete Roma wins the solo marathon. His time is 1:13.
  • Team Less Swift finishes second in the team time trial. Its time is 1:14

Team Swift

Team Swift's four finishers (one skater dropped out) share the points for first, second, third and fourth place:

(60 + 50 + 45 + 40 = 195 ÷ 4 = 48.75)

Each skater is awarded 48.75 points.

Pete Roma

Pete Roma is awarded the points for fifth place: 35.

If Pete also earns points in the team time trial, his lowest point total is tossed.

Team Less Swift

All five of Team Less Swift's skaters finish the race. Its members share the points for sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth place:

(30 + 27 + 24 + 21 + 18 = 120 ÷ 5 = 24 points)

Each skater is awarded 24 points.
