10 No snow! The Metrodome Inline Marathon is the world's only regularly scheduled indoor inline marathon. 9 Bragging rights You'll be part of the first event of the National Roller Cup (NROC)! 8 No bumps! You've never skated a sweeter surface: the Metrodome's upper concourse is as smooth as butter. 7 No Starykowicz Peter Starykowicz, winner the last three years, is studying abroad and won't be there to make you feel like a slacker ... although David Sarmiento may. 6 No wind ... ... No rain. No cold. No humidity. No problem! 5 The Proof So you don't believe in drafting? The team time trial will open your eyes. The winning team finished one minute ahead of Starykowicz in 2007; four minutes in 2006. 4 Return to childhood The mandatory water stop is probably the only time since kindergarten that you will be required to take a drink of water! 3 No boot knocking (of the bad kind) The start of most marathons is a stampede of flying feet. At the Metrodome, you start alone, a few seconds ahead of the next skater. 2 "Reunited and it feels so good!" When you get dropped in most marathons, it's forever. But at the Metrodome, it's no problem. Just relax. In a few minutes, your paceline will be back around to pick you up. And you'll be rested! 1
